    Sustainability due diligence

Make a private aviation sustainability claim easier to examine

An emissions estimate, an offset statement, a sustainable aviation fuel option or a reporting position each rests on definitions, documents and program rules that a marketing summary does not show. The wording matters, because different claims require different evidence.

We help you identify the aviation claim, obtain the supporting program documents and prepare the questions that need specialist review. This gives your environmental, legal and accounting advisors a defined scope and relevant record for their assessment, rather than a brochure.

    The three questions

What organizing the diligence actually involves

Identify the exact claim. An emissions estimate, an offset, an environmental attribute, a fuel-related statement and a reporting position are five different things. Establishing which one is on the table determines what evidence is even relevant.

Request the supporting record. That normally means the methodology, the eligibility criteria, supplier disclosures, program terms, any certificates or retirement records, and the date and scope of the information. A claim without a dated record behind it is not yet assessable.

Clarify the decision boundary. Some questions can be answered from the documents. Others cannot, and belong with a qualified specialist. Knowing which is which before the engagement starts is usually the most useful output of this stage.

    Scope

    Where our role ends

We do not provide emissions verification, carbon-accounting assurance, offset certification, environmental audit, or legal or regulatory compliance opinions, and nothing on this page should be read as any of those. We do not assess whether an offset achieves what it claims, and we do not advise on CORSIA, EU ETS or any other regulatory framework.

Those determinations belong to qualified environmental, legal, accounting, tax and reporting professionals. What we can do is make sure the question put to them is the right one and the file they receive is complete.

    Before you claim anything

The documents a specialist will ask for

If an environmental claim is going to be made, repeated in reporting, or relied on by anyone else, these are the materials the qualified reviewer will want. Assembling them first usually shortens that review considerably.

    01The claim itself

    • The exact wording proposed, and where it will appear.
    • Whether it is an emissions estimate, an offset, an environmental attribute, a fuel statement or a reporting position.
    • Who is making the claim, and to whom.

    02The supporting record

    • The methodology relied on, and its version and date.
    • Eligibility criteria and any program rules that apply.
    • Supplier disclosures, and certificates or retirement records where relevant.
    • The scope and date of the underlying data.

We do not assess this material or reach a conclusion on it. That is work for qualified environmental, legal, accounting, tax or reporting professionals.

Bring the claim, report or proposal you need to assess.

Tell us what is being claimed, what documents you hold, and when a decision is needed.

This page describes how we help organize a sustainability question for review by qualified specialists. It states no environmental, emissions, offset, fuel or regulatory conclusion, and asserts no certification, verification or assurance capability.
